ALL EVENTS HAVE BEEN POSTPONED DUE TO THE COVID-19 OUTBREAK. WE WILL SET NEW DATES FOR THE EVENT ONCE WE KNOW MORE ABOUT THE SITUATION.
We're excited to announce our upcoming training sessions for Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN) and Vocabulary Development.
Session are in small groups to allow for discussion and support and you will have resources to take away.
Supporting Speech, Language and Communication Development in the Early Years
This session will provide ideas for you to use to practically support early years children to develop their speech, language and communication skills.
Areas covered in the session include;
Typical development norms
Ideas to promote attention and listening
Visual timetables and event sequencing
Developing understanding of information carrying words
Developing early vocabulary
Developing expressive language and modelling language

Supporting Children with Speech, Language and Communication Needs in Primary Schools
This session will provide practical ideas you can take away and add to your existing practice to help you support primary aged children develop their speech, language and communication skills.
Areas covered in the session include;
Promoting attention and listening
Promoting independence
Classroom questioning – the ‘Blank’ Language scheme
Developing vocabulary
Developing expressive language and modelling language

Supporting Vocabulary Development
(suitable for staff working in primary and secondary schools)
This session will look at the link between vocabulary and attainment. It is full of practical strategies and ideas that you can take away and use.
Areas covered in the session include;
The importance of promoting vocabulary
Selecting the appropriate vocabulary to target
Practical strategies to use within the classroom or during interventions
Ideas of how to use and review new vocabulary
