About the event
The Teaching Assistant Practitioner Programme (TAPP): Cognition & Learning offers a range of benefits for schools, support staff and pupils by developing specialist expertise in learning and cognition interventions and strategies.
This is the fourth of five sessions in the programme. You can buy standalone sessions or buy all five for a discounted price.
Attendees will gain practical strategies for identifying and teaching key vocabulary before lessons, helping pupils access learning more successfully. Attendees will learn how to explicitly teach word meanings and confidently deliver targeted vocabulary interventions that reduce barriers to learning and improve understanding, participation and retention, particularly for pupils with SEND, EAL and language-related needs.

By the end of this session, attendees will:
Understand the importance of vocabulary in learning and how limited vocabulary knowledge creates barriers to curriculum access, understanding and participation.
